SharePoint Content Type Rollup - Lightning Conductor Web Part
The Lightning Conductor Web Part supports Custom Content Types. This makes it a valuable tool to roll up data that is based upon a Content Type or Custom Content type. Content Types can be used within any SharePoint List or Library such as Document Libraries, Picture Libraries, Contacts List and Task List. A Content Type may be used by a specific List Type, but can also span multiple List Types. A common use of our Lightning Conductor Web Part is to roll up Page information from a Page that is based upon a Publishing Page Content Type. The advantage of using the Lightning Conductor Web Part over the Content Query Web Part for this purpose is that the views are far more configurable and saves you valuable time and money when aggregating this information.
To configure the LCWP to aggregate (Roll up) data from Custom Content Types, follow these steps:
1. In the ‘List Type’ section choose a List or Library that you would like to roll up from. This is an optional step if your Content Type is used across multiple list types.
2. In the Content Type Section, choose the group of Content Types that you wish to use e.g. Lightning Tools Content Types.
3. From the same section choose the Content Type that you wish to roll up from.
4. Choose the check box to include child content types. E.g. Software Products or Hardware Products.
5. Setup your SPGrid View by clicking on the icon with the magnifying glass to include the custom columns in the view and the Filter options.
